How to Register to Buy a New Viettel eSIM Online (2025 Guide)
As of late 2025, tourists still cannot reliably buy or register a Viettel eSIM online. The only guaranteed method is to purchase a Viettel Tourist eSIM in person at an official Viettel kiosk located in the arrivals hall of major airports such as Hanoi (HAN), Ho Chi Minh City (SGN), Da Nang (DAD), Nha Trang (CXR), or Phu Quoc (PQC).
To register, you must present your original passport, use an unlocked eSIM-compatible phone, and pay with cash or card. Viettel airport kiosks offer exclusive Tourist eSIM packages (such as DL60, TR80, DL120, SD135T, T160) that are not available at city stores.
After selecting a plan, tourists must complete Viettel’s official 6-step self-registration process, which includes scanning a QR code, uploading passport and selfie photos, confirming personal information under Vietnamese data protection regulations (Decree 13), signing electronically, and then installing the eSIM. The entire process usually takes under 10 minutes, with staff available to help.
Because Vietnamese law (Decree 49/2017) requires all SIM cards to be registered with a valid ID, the physical passport is mandatory, and photocopies or digital photos are rejected.
In short: buy your eSIM at the airport, follow the simple verification steps, and you’ll be connected quickly and legally.
